Russell Auxiliary

Our hospital volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience and supporting the healthcare staff in various capacities. Founded in 1987, the Russell Medical Auxiliary is proud to have over 100 active volunteers who have collectively contributed over 12,000 hours of service, showcasing their unwavering commitment and altruism. These volunteers engage in a wide range of activities, from providing companionship and emotional support to patients, assisting with administrative tasks, to helping navigate visitors within the hospital premises. Their presence not only alleviates the workload of healthcare professionals but also fosters a warm and welcoming environment for patients and their families during challenging times. The selfless efforts of these volunteers are invaluable, reflecting the profound impact of community involvement at Russell Medical. For more than twenty years, the Auxiliary has successfully provided essential technology and equipment to the hospital through its annual fundraising initiatives. Key projects include the annual “Holiday Tree of Lights,” Christmas Bake Sale, and Fall Jewelry Sale, alongside numerous handmade gifts. Each December, several talented members create and decorate Christmas stockings for every baby born at Russell Medical. One of the most cherished initiatives is the Tate Thomas Memorial Scholarship, awarded to qualifying applicants who are full-time students in an accredited health care program. Additionally, the Barbara Waller Nursing Scholarship is available exclusively for Russell Medical employees pursuing a Master’s level nursing program or higher.
